POLICE RAID OKADA IN LAGOS
Early hour of Thursday 4th January, 2022, a group of Nigeria police force patrol team at Ikeja raided a motorcycle, which is popularly called ‘’ Okada'' in the local parlance.
It’s said that the team of police men who were in a convoy while carrying out their normal routine patrol at the popular Oba Akran road, Ikeja, intercepted a commercial bike rider at 10am. Upon sitting the police vehicle approaching the biker tried to maneuver himself through the long queue of vehicles but he was so unfortunate. He briskly jumped out of his Okada deserting his passengers to their fate. Two police officers held on to his motorcycle as they tried to seize it from committing further damage to the Army Green Toyota Camry 2006 Model.
The leader of the police task force wasted no time at all, as he quickly shot once into the thin air to disperse hordes of onlookers and passers-by from converging. An eyewitness account told news correspondent that, the Lagos State Government had banned Okada from plying certain roads in the State, of which Oba Akran is one of them; but that some commercial bike riders are very adamant. The police tucked away the Okada in their White Hilux Van as the Bike Rider was nowhere to be found.
A certain man was seen talking to one of the Officers at a corner, as his car was slightly dented. He was offered an apology but the look on his face showed that it wasn’t satisfactory enough. As he only took it with a pinch of salt. No Life was lost. Have we seen the last of this drama between the Police and Okada riders in Lagos State? I think only time will tell.
Only God will save us in this country
